CHILDREN OF HEAVEN

                                

                               A child is a miniature man; like a seed which has the potential to grow up into a branching canopy, every child is special, as they are our future. We can see that we see our future through the eyes of our children. As we are not immortals, we try our best to pave a way for our children for their better life. Childhood is supposed to be sweet and memorable, it should be like that. Because the sweet memories of childhood never fade away and serve as an anchor in the future difficulties. The personalities that develop during the childhood tend to stick for the rest of your life. So the childhood is as important as adulthood.

                           Children look up to their parents for everything. This is a basic instinct that prevails in the entire animal kingdom. Parents especially mothers are supposed to protect the child  and provide them a healthy loving environment to grow up. But if the parents themselves use violence against children, who will the child trust?

                           

                               Child abuse reporting are increasing day by day. Does this mean that there was no child abuse in the past? The sins of man are as old as himself. Now a days because of better awareness the crime reporting rates have increased. But still it pains me to that thousands of children are subjected to violence all around the world and the culprits in most of the cases are their own biological parents.

                             The terrifying fact is that most of these parents consider children as their property rather than a human being with their own rights. They consider them as their slaves or pets, rather than their own blood. They may provide the child with food, clothes and shelter as they provide for their pet animals, and just because they have given birth to them, or just because they spend some money on their offsprings, they assume that they have the entire right over the life of their child.

                            The crimes committed against a child is the most heinous crime in the entire world. Abusive parents who vent out their anger and frustration over their children are the worst of all human beings, as well as those who ignore the plea of the grieving child. Whenever I read reports of child abuse from the newspaper, I can’t help but just wonder what has happened to our society.

                           

                               Recently I saw the movie “My First Client”- a South Korean movie which portrays the harsh reality of child abuse and the legal difficulties in providing justice to the victims. I couldn’t stop my tears through the entire movie. Just because you buy clothes and food, you don’t become a parent. A mother is supposed to be the closest one to the child,  but what of the  mother herself is a monster who beats her own child ?

                           I actually felt blessed for my parents and family after watching the movie. Children are not to be trampled upon, they are a gift from heaven. I consider them as the most precious gift from God. Let’s provide them heaven when they are with us.
